Track radius refers to the curved portion of your garage door track as it transitions from vertical to horizontal. To measure, look at the curved section and measure from the inside corner of the curve to the top of the track. Most common residential sizes are 12” radius (tighter curve, more headroom needed) and 15” radius (gentler curve, smoother operation).
The difference is the curve angle. 12” radius track makes the door turn upward faster and requires less backroom. 15” radius track provides a smoother transition, reducing stress on rollers and hinges, but needs more ceiling clearance.

Garage door rollers come in several styles:
While you can replace just one roller, rollers wear down at roughly the same rate. Replacing all rollers ensures smoother travel, reduces strain on the opener, and prevents future breakdowns. Mixed roller types (steel vs nylon, bearing vs no bearing) can also create uneven wear.
Follow this 3-step process:
🔹 Tip: Inspect your current rollers to see if they have ball bearings inside, and match the wheel material.
This can be caused by misaligned tracks, worn rollers, or bent hinges. Check track alignment with a level and make sure all bolts are tightened. Replace rollers if worn or damaged.
Common causes include:
Hinges should be replaced if cracked, bent, or making loud popping sounds during door travel. Rollers should be replaced if the wheels wobble, bearings fall out, or if they’re over 7 years old in high-use doors.
Yes. The larger metal piece at the top of your panel is a U-bar, and the small lip at the bottom of the panel is the rib referenced in installation instructions. Your door has an extra-heavy duty U-bar at the top, and the standard rib at the bottom. The operator bracket attaches to both points. You can safely screw into the U-bar on the top of the panel and the rib at the bottom as shown in the diagrams.

Think of your garage door springs like the counterweight in an old elevator. Without them, your door would be incredibly difficult to lift manually, and your garage door opener would burn out trying to handle all that weight on its own.
