Check both the tube label and the end hardware:
Upgrading from TorqueMaster to TorqueMaster Plus requires a complete conversion kit that includes springs, the winding assembly, and cable drums.
You can order by any of these methods:
Our selector maps your inputs to the correct spring:

If you are upgrading to Plus or changing from single to double or double to single, you must order the appropriate conversion kit that includes springs, winding assembly, and cable drums.
If the tube label does not show a balance weight, you still have two reliable paths:
Model number alone is not enough. Windows, finish, and hardware change door weight inside the same model.
We recommend replacing both springs if one is broken. Springs are manufactured with the same life cycle rating, so if one has failed the other is likely close behind. Replacing both at once keeps the lift balanced and saves time and money by avoiding a second replacement later.
If a matching pair is no longer offered for your door weight, convert to a single spring configuration. The most reliable approach is upgrading to TorqueMaster Plus with a complete conversion kit that includes springs, the winding assembly, and cable drums.
Select "Complete Plus Upgrade" on the first dropdown to get all those parts with your spring replacement - Here.
Double to single on Original style: remove the left spring and gears on the left bracket, then reuse the left winding cone as a spacer to support the left side assembly. Confirm drum orientation and cable routing before winding.
Single to double or any upgrade to Plus: order the Complete Plus Upgrade (springs, winding assembly, cable drums). Mixing partial components leads to fit and winding issues.
Common signs include: the door will not lift, the opener strains or stalls, or the door feels far heavier than usual when lifting by hand after disconnecting the opener. TorqueMaster springs are inside the tube, so you will not see a visible gap like a torsion spring.
If the tube label lists a balance weight, you can use that to order. Otherwise use part number or the measurement method.
After all tension is safely removed, springs are free floating. If a spring will not slide out, the plastic sleeve liner may be bonded to the tube by old grease.
Confirm the tube is completely empty before installing new springs.
Modern springs use high tensile music wire and may differ in length, diameter, and wire size from older parts while still being correct for your door. TorqueMaster springs are self anchoring inside the teardrop tube and do not need to span the full door width. If your old spring had an inner rod, discard it during replacement.
If you ordered by correct inputs and matched the system style, the part is correct even if it looks different from the old spring.
Included: the winding cone and the perch end cone are installed on the coils.
Not included: plastic sleeve liners. Reuse your existing sleeves by trimming to fit, install without sleeves, or purchase replacements as a noise liner.
End cone materials may vary by production and lift rating. Nylon and metal versions are both durable when installed correctly.
If you are replacing with the same system style that your hardware matches, yes. If your winding gears are worn or you are switching styles, order the Plus conversion kit with springs, winding assembly, and cable drums.
Some flag brackets block the small locating tab on the Plus winding assembly. You can remove that tab by bending it off and then mount to your existing bracket. In some cases, you may also need to punch a new carriage bolt hole in the correct location. Always verify bracket alignment, drum seating, and cable routing before winding.
If your existing flag brackets are bent, worn, or not compatible, you can replace them with fully adjustable brackets:

Original winding parts were discontinued and do not interchange with Plus. If your original gears are stripped or worn, a Plus conversion kit is required. Many customers upgrade during spring replacement to avoid future part availability issues and simplify service.
Replacing cones alone is often difficult and new cones may not fit older springs. The reliable path is to replace the complete spring matched to your system style. If your winding hardware is worn, plan for a Plus conversion kit.
Springs are pre lubricated. Lubrication is optional but helps longevity and quiet operation. Apply a light coat to the spring ends and moving hardware a few times per year, avoiding excess that can attract dirt.
They will function, but if the original winding gears fail later you will need to upgrade to Plus with new external hardware and springs at that time. If you want to minimize future downtime, plan the Plus conversion now with the complete kit.
By part number: find the exact code on your tube label.
By measurements: measure wire size and spring length with all tension removed.
