# Garage Door Opener Motor Control Boards

Motor control (logic) boards are the “brain” of your garage door opener. They power the safety sensors, read signals from remotes and keypads, and control the motor and lights. If your opener is unresponsive or behaves erratically, replacing the control board can restore safe, reliable operation.

### How to choose the correct board

- Find the opener’s **brand & model number** on the motor head label.
- Note the board’s **part number** (if printed on the existing board).
- Check the **learn button color** (green, amber/orange, purple) and manufacture year range.
- Match the **connector layout** and compatibility listed on the product page before ordering.

### Common symptoms of a failing board

- No power or status LED on the opener (outlet verified good).
- Won’t learn/program remotes or loses memory repeatedly.
- Random operation, continuous clicking, or lights stuck on/off.
- Photo eyes good and aligned, but the door still won’t run from remotes/keypad.

_Notes:_ Always **unplug power** before servicing. Some boards for older models may be discontinued. If only the radio receiver has failed, a [**universal external receiver**](https://www.expressgaragedoors.com/collections/universal-garage-door-opener-remote-control-kit "Unversal Garage Door Opener Remote Control Kits") can be a practical workaround; for multiple faults or heavy damage, consider upgrading the opener.
